Winchester 1873 2nd Model Rifle, .44-40, full round barrel, full length magazine, very good bore with strong rifling, some pitting present toward the breech end. Very good metal- relatively smooth and clean, dark gray patina coloration, correct sights, crescent buttplate. Sideplate and loading gate screws have been replaced. Very good walnut- lightly sanded long ago but fairly full fit. Solid repairs to right side forearm crack and right side chip near the upper tang. Crisp smooth action. A real decent 2nd model in the 71,XXX s.n. range.
