85. Winchester 1876 2nd Model Rifle, .45-60 cal., 28" full octagon barrel, full length magazine, very near fine bore with strong sharp rifling, very little minor pitting. Correct thumbprint dustcover, special order single set trigger functions nicely. Metal is fairly smooth with the barrel and magazine having turned a pleasing dark plum patina with hints of darkened blue in protected areas. Receiver has turned a fairly dark plum patina as well- thinning on the high points. Excellent traces of darkening case colors on the hammer and lever. An extra dovetail behind the barrel address is neatly filled. Sights include a Sheard style front and a long Marlin rear. Very good solid forearm with normal wear. Buttstock replaced long ago during period of use- looks good. Complete with Cody Research Form verifying features and 1880 shipment date.
